Tver State Technical University (TvSTU) is one of the leading large-scale multilevel scientific and educational centers of vocational education in Tver Region. It was established as Moscow Peat Institute in 1922. TvSTU has been always increasing its scientific and technical potentials, developing the best traditions of Soviet/Russian higher technical schools. Today’s TvSTU is the main base for training engineering students and specialists in Tver Region. As one of the leading Russian universities for comprehensive teaching specialists in engineering specialties, TvSTU discovers new ways of training engineering students and specialists including those for foreign countries.
In the recent annual international university rating ARES-2015 (Academic Ranking of World Universities – European Standard).
TvSTU is among one hundred best universities. Moreover, TvSTU was also awarded Category ССС. It means that TvSTU ensures an adequate quality in teaching, research and – last but not least – employers’ demand for its graduated students.

Its favorable conditions for high-quality learning and comprehensive personal development make TvSTU effective. It is actively introducing all necessary up-to-date technologies, building international relations to implement joint educational programs, doing state-of-the-art research to meet all demands and challenges of the current economic situation.
Currently, TvSTU’s education, research and production facilities include seven faculties: Faculty of Natural Resources and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Machine Building, Chemical Engineering Faculty, Civil Engineering Faculty, Faculty of Information Technologies, Faculty of Management and Social Communications, Faculty of International Academic Cooperation, as well as Institute for Further Vocational Education and Retraining, Institute of Nano- and Biotechnologies, East Europe Institute of Peat Business.
TvSTU has 43 Departments totally employing approximately 500 professors:
TvSTU offers 39 directions and specialties to learn in a full-time, correspondence and mixed forms. Approximately 9,000 students enjoy them. We develop effective international contacts for cooperation in teaching and solving fundamental scientific problems together with universities in Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Finland, France, China, etc. Totally, the university prepared over 60,000 high-qualification specialists and researchers effectively working both in Russia and abroad.
Since 1979 a Faculty of International Academic Cooperation has been working at the university. It is a multi-level training center to provide an academic support for the foreign students of the university. It includes all levels and types of learning: pre-university technical Russian language; bachelor courses; magistracy; specialist degree; postgraduate courses.
Our Faculty of International Academic Cooperation is well-known all over Russia as a highly professional center for training specialists for foreign countries. By today, over 5,000 students from 82 countries of the world have graduated from the Faculty. Among them, over 700 foreigners were awarded Engineer Diplomas, over 30 of them were awarded Philosophy Doctor degrees, over 120 students were certified as Russian language teachers for Russian language courses.
